Quinces Miami
Venetian Lady Yacht Charters is grateful to be located in Miami, which is full of Hispanic culture. Our city is home to annual events dedicated to Spanish culture such as Calle Ocho, Carnavel Miami and Carnaval Miami. But the most endearing Hispanic tradition, in which we get to participate often, is the Quince or Quinceranera. Today’s quinceraneras embrace family, friends, music, dance and food.
A Quince celebration in Miami is a very important event in the life of many young Hispanic women. It marks the fifteenth birthday of these women, much like the sweet sixteenth birthday marks the sixteenth birthday in the United States and Canada. Quinces also contain many religious elements, similar to a Bat Mitzvah or Bar Mitzvah party held for thirteen year olds in Judaism. Before the party, all the guests attend a church service where the pastor speaks about the moral responsibility of growing up. The young woman will stand up and speak about her future hopes and dreams while other family members share stories and tales of the young women life. After the service ends everyone heads over to a party yacht loaded with lots food, dancing and other entertainment.
There can be many, many months involved in preparing for a young woman’s Quince party. Personally, we have seen one-year and two-year planning of a Quince in Miami. We completely understand that socially, quinces are a big deal. We respect the fact that some families have been saving money for years in order to have a big Quince celebration. So our duty and job is crucial in helping create a party that will be cherished by all the attendees.
We want to help create the tradition.
TYPCIAL QUINCE ITINERARY - The Quinceanera traditionally wears a ball gown with her Court dressed in gowns and tuxedos. The Quinceanera and her court – mostly made up of her friends, perform a choreographed waltz or dance. Our yachts have large dance floors that will be essential in this dance.
We have learned that there are many traditions throughout the Quinceranera celebration. One of the most often used implemented traditions seen on our yachts is the Changing of the Shoes. The father or father figure ceremoniously changes the young women’s flat espadrille shoes to high heels. This symbolizes the Quinceanera’s transformation from a little girl to a young lady.
Many important additions to the food, music, dancing and entertainment are the flowers, cakes, Last Doll, guest book, photo albums, invitations, and ceremony pillows. Quince portraits can also be taken on one of our luxury yachts with the stunning sunset and downtown skyline in the background. We may help in some of the preparations but not all. Our charter sales team will either help plan or put you in touch with the right people.
At the reception, there is always the toast to the Quinceanera, known as the brindis. With decorated Champagne Glasses, the guests are invited to offer their congratulations and best wishes.
